As reported in The Natchez Democrat an accident in Natchez MS took the life of a 26 year old woman.
“Anna Hudgens 26 of Natchez was pronounced dead at Riverland Medical Center Thursday after her vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler. The accident occurred at 8:25 a.m. near Ridgecrest State Trooper Chad Dickson said.
“An 18-wheeler was stopped on U.S. 65(84) south bound in the inside lane preparing to turn left into a private drive or lot” Dickson said. “And the other vehicle ran into the rear of the tractor trailer.”
Clinton Richardson from Carrollton Texas was driving the 18-wheeler and was not injured. He was released at the Read Full Post ‹

Motorcycle wrecks are becoming more numerous. While many of the accidents are caused by poor driving on the part of the cyclist there are other factors that cause these terrible accidents. Crashworthiness is the ability of a structure to protect its occupants during an impact. This is commonly tested when investigating the safety of vehicles.
Depending on the nature of the impact and the vehicle involved different criteria are used to determine the crashworthiness of the structure. Crashworthiness may be assessed either prospectively using computer models or experiments or retrospectively by analyzing crash outcomes. Several criteria are used to assess crashworthiness prospectively including the deformation patterns of the vehicle structure the acceleration experienced by the vehicle during an impact and the probability of injury predicted by human body models. Injury probability is defined using injury criteria which are mechanical parameters (e.g. force acceleration or deformation) that correlate with injury risk. A common injury criterion is the Head Injury criterion (HIC). Crashworthiness is assessed retrospectively by analyzing injury risk in real-world crashes often using regression or other statistical techniques to control for the myriad of confounders that are present in crashes.
