Driver of big rig truck hurt when stalled truck hit by train in Rowan County, NC.
On Monday, June 7, a truck driver was injured when his
truck was hit by a train in Rowan County, NC.The accident occurred at a railroad crossing on Statesville
Boulevard.News reports indicate that
the truck driver had left Shaver Wood Products, hauling cargo for American
Carriers.His truck allegedly stalled as
it was crossing the train tracks.At
that moment, a train was approaching and was unable to stop before crashing
into the truck.The truck was pushed off
the tracks by the train, but the train did not derail.Emergency crews rushed to free the driver
from the truck, and he was taken to Iredell Memorial Medical Center in critical
condition.His name was not
released.The incident is still under
investigation, as officials try to determine why the truck stalled.
