Waco, TX — This past Monday afternoon, traffic in the Waco area of I-35 was backed up as there were 3 major crashes that injured a total of 18 people. Police are saying that a flatbed semi-truck rear-ended a smaller car yesterday afternoon (November 30, 2015) and caused the entire thing.
The accident happened at about 3:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon, in then northbound lanes of I-24 near the Sun Valley Boulevard exit.
According to the reports so far, it looks like an 18-wheeler truck was headed north when it crashed into the back of a small sedan, which caused a traffic jam.
As traffic backed up, another 18-wheeler failed to stop in time and crashed into 2 more 18-wheelers. As drivers were dealing with the aftermath of both accidents, a third wreck happened.
Police said that a total of 18 people were taken to nearby hospitals, but the ones in the most serious condition had been in the two 18-wheelers that were rear-ended by the trucker that failed to brake in time.
Right now, it’s not believed that any of the injuries are life-threatening, but some are more serious than others.
There’s been no word on whether any charges are going to be filed against any of these drivers.
