Wisconsin — It looks like two people were injured and rushed to a hospital after the van they were riding in was hit by two semi-trucks on I-39. The specific location wasn’t clear in the Wisconsin State Patrol’s reports, but they mentioned I-39 and County Highway AB (near McFarland), which don’t appear to intersect.
In any case, the accident happened at about 11:15 p.m. on Thursday night of last week, November 19, 2015.
A van was driving along I-39 in the northbound lanes (near mile marker 140) when it had to stop for traffic ahead. As it sat in traffic, an approaching semi-truck failed to stop in time and rear-ended the van, pushing it out of its lane, where a second semi-truck hit it.
The woman driving the van, a 75-year-old Chicago resident, was injured along with another person in the van. Also injured was one of the truckers, a 58-year-old Tinley Park man. However, no names were released and it’s not clear if the first semi-truck driver (the one that failed to brake) would be facing charges.

Commentary:
I don’t want to jump to any conclusions here, because everyone deserves their fair chance at explaining themselves. But rear-ending a stopped car in traffic? At night? That makes me wonder if this trucker was even paying attention. Whatever the police decide to do here in terms of charging this trucker, if this were my my truck driver, I would make doubly sure that I made things right with the innocent folks he hurt.
