State Fair of Texas, Dallas — There was an accident reported at the State Fair of Texas earlier this week (Monday, October 12, 2015) that left a worker with Midway injured. The authorities haven’t gone into much detail yet, but said that a woman was injured after the wheels came off a roller coaster ride called “Crazy Mouse.” This happened around 1:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon, according to the news reports. The female worker was apparently standing near one of the “Crazy Mouse” cars as it was going down the track when one of the wheels suddenly popped off and stuck her. She was rushed to Baylor Hospital nearby and was reportedly in stable condition as of Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the fair has talked to the news outlets already, saying that they are having the ride inspected, tested, and examined. It has been shut down until further notice. The spokesperson also claimed that the injured worker was not in life-threatening condition.

Commentary:
I don’t want to start making accusations here without having all the facts, but each year the State Fair opens in Dallas, I nervously wait to hear news of someone getting hurt. Some of those rides just look downright scary with how poorly they’re maintained, and this is proof of what I was worried about: something was going to break and somebody would get hurt.
Now, I don’t know who this worker was employed by and whether they were simply contractors for the fair or the actual owners of the ride itself. All the different possible legal situations in determining liability here is enough to make anyone’s head spin. But here’s the way I see it. This worker presumably wasn’t doing anything wrong when this accident happened and it’s certainly not her fault that the ride lost a wheel. So who answers for this kind of an accident?
The most simple answer is either her employer or the owner of the ride itself. However, there really needs to be an investigation into this accident.
