St. Francois County, MI – Jenni M. Lipe was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident in Bonne Terre on Saturday, August 22nd, 2015. The accident happened just before 11:00 am.
84-year-old Robert J. Ruffino was driving a 1996 Chrysler Town and Country westbound along Silver Springs Road just west of Berry Road when the accident happened. for reasons unknown, Ruffino failed to maintain his lane of traffic and crossed over the center line in the eastbound lane. Jenni Lipe was passenger in a 2006 Ford Escape and tried to swerve in order to avoid collision. The front driver’s side of the Chrysler struck the center of the Escape.
Ruffino and passenger, 74-year-old Anna M. Ruffino, sustained minor injuries.
3-year-old Lipe was taken to the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital for treatment. She sustained serious injuries. Her condition is not known.
Authorities are still looking into this accident. There’s been no mention of medical emergency, weather, or distracted driving as possible contributing factors to the accident.
