Sparta, Missouri — There was an accident along Highway 14 last month that left a man from Rogersville with serious injuries after a woman from Sparta crashed into his car. The man who was injured was later identified by the Missouri State Highway Patrol as Gary Estes, 68 years old.
The accident happened around 4:15 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, August 20, 2015.
The MSHP reports said that Estes had been driving west along Highway 14 that afternoon in his Ford Focus when a car (also a Ford Focus) driven by 19-year old Breanna Cunningham suddenly pulled out in front of him.
Allegedly, Cunningham was trying to make a left turn on Highway 14 and failed to yield to Estes’s car. They collided and Estes was sent to a hospital in Springfield with serious injuries. It appears that Cunningham was also injured, but was able to take a private vehicle to a different hospital.
Right now, the police are saying this accident may have been caused by a failure to yield.
