Wellsville, NY — Police in Wellsville reported that a young man was paralyzed after a serious motorcycle accident last week. 28-year old Andrew Feenaughty was badly hurt after his motorcycle crashed along Early Street and Highland Avenue last Wednesday night (September 9, 2015) at about 10:00 p.m.
The accident happened when Feenaughty’s bike lost control on Early Street and hopped the curb, crashing into a nearby residential yard and hit a tree.
He was rushed to a hospital as soon as paramedics arrived, where it was determined that his injuries would leave him paralyzed from the waist down. As of Thursday, the doctors were still working and didn’t know the extent of his injuries yet.
At least one source has claimed that Feenaughty’s bike suffered a mechanical malfunction, which caused the bike to crash.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for Andrew Feenaughty, which can be found here.

Commentary:
Motorcycle accidents come with a certain stigma, don’t they? Everyone assumes that if you’ve crashed on a motorcycle, it’s because you were speeding or being reckless. Was that the case here? I don’t really know, I haven’t looked into any of the details. However, folks should be taking these allegations of a mechanical failure very seriously, because that might indicate something was seriously wrong with that bike. At the very least, it would let us all know that the victim was put into a situation completely out of his control, which may be more of Yamaha’s fault than his own.
Obviously, there needs to be some more investigation, but I just wanted to remind my readers not to jump to conclusions before they have all the facts.
