Maricopa, CA – Shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday, Eduardo Zamora, Ernesto Gutierrez, and Mario Gutierrez were injured in a 3 vehicle crash, outside of Maricopa, CA.
According to authorities, the accident began when Ernesto Gutierrez, 38, clipped a semi-truck with his van. Mr. Gutierrez lost control at that point and crashed into a tanker truck, driven by Eduardo Zamora, 63.
In the accident, Ernesto Gutierrez was critically injured, suffering multiple broken bones, including a fractured pelvis. He was evacuated by helicopter to Kern Medical Center.
His passenger, Mario Gutierrez, complained of chest pains following the accident and was also taken to KMC. Eduardo Zamora reportedly suffered a broken leg and was also taken to KMC. The driver of the big rig, John Walter, 59, was apparently uninjured in the accident.
There have been no charges or citations filed in the case, so far. There are also no updates on the conditions of the three injured men. Authorities continue to investigate.
