Barry County, Missouri – Alyk Barnes and Mason Moreland were injured in a single-vehicle collision in Barry county on Thursday, September 3rd, 2015. The incident happened around 5:15 pm.
16-year-old Moreland was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer along Farm Road 1040 about four miles west of Monett when the accident happened. According to the police report, he lost control of the vehicle on a low water bridge, skidded off the roadway, struck a fence, and overturned.
16-year-old Barnes was taken to Mercy Hospital in Joplin. He’s said to have received serious injuries.
Moreland was taken to Cox South in Springfield. He reportedly sustained moderate injuries in the collision.
At this time we’re not sure why the driver lost control of the vehicle. There’s been no mention of excessive speed or mechanical malfunction in connection with this accident.
