Mohamed Said Mohamed, Javier Pacheco Injured in Avoca, IA Truck Accident


Avoca, Iowa — There was a serious accident reported outside of Avoca (about 40 miles northeast of Council Bluffs) that left a two semi-truck drivers and a passenger injured. Mohamed Said Mohamed, 29, was injured along with his passenger, Javier Pacheco, after their semi-truck was accidentally rear-ended by another semi-truck.

This happened along I-80 near Avoca on Monday night (August 31, 2015) around 10:00 p.m.

Police said that Mohamed Said Mohamed was driving his semi-truck along I-80 that night, headed east, when he had to slow down and open his door.

As he did so, his semi-truck was suddenly rear-ended by another semi-truck that was being driven by 26-year old Daniel Marks of Omaha. The two trucks sustained major damage and both Daniel Marks and Mohamed Said Mohamed were rushed to a hospital in Harlan for their injuries. Mohamed Said Mohamed’s passenger, Javier Pacheco, was also injured and had to be taken to a hospital as well.

More details will be released later, but it’s not clear if either of the truckers are facing charges.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.
