Carrizozo, NM — A total of three people were rushed to two separate hospitals in Alamogordo and El Paso (Texas) after a serious accident with a semi-truck this past Friday, August 21, 2015. Police officers with the New Mexico State Police said that a semi-truck and a Ford Explorer SUV collided in a head-on wreck near Carrizozo last Friday.
According to their reports, this happened around 2:45 a.m. in the morning that Friday, just a little ways north of Carrizozo.
The Ford Explorer was driving south along U.S. 54 that morning while a semi-truck was headed north. At some point near mile marker 143, one of the drivers lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic, causing a head-on collision.
Nobody in the semi-truck was harmed, but three people in the SUV had to be taken to a hospital.
Two were taken via ambulance to Alamogordo, but the third was taken via helicopter to an El Paso, TX hospital. It’s not clear if their names and conditions will be released.
