Reading, PA — Police in Reading reported a serious work-related accident this past Friday, August 7, that left a worker injured. They didn’t give the man’s name, but said that they were called to Centre Avenue to the Carpenter Technology Corporation around 11:15 a.m. last Friday.
A worker outside of the building was using some tools to work on a piece of machinery, the news said, when something went wrong and the worker suffered major leg injuries.
He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated, but the cause of the accident and his condition haven’t been released yet. Right now, it looks like this is still under investigation.

Commentary:
The reason for this accident isn’t very clear to me, but I went ahead and looked up this company’s record with OSHA. As it turns out, they’ve been investigated another two times since 2012. Now, if this company doesn’t have a good safety record (which I’m not implying), then perhaps there needs to be a bit more investigation in what happened here.
