Campbellton, TX — A three-vehicle collision sent two people to the hospital on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. The accident took place in Campbellston, Texas, on Interstate 37.
Local reports say that two semi-trucks and a crane truck were headed south on the interstate, and that the crane truck, traveling behind the two semis, rear-ended the truck in front of it. That collision caused the middle truck to then rear-end the truck in front of it. The third truck lost control and drove off the road, where it crashed and caught on fire.
The drivers of both semi-trucks had to be flown to San Antonio Military Medical Center by medical helicopter. Both suffered serious injuries in the crash.
So far, no names have been released.
Right now, what caused the accident is unknown. Police are currently investigating.

Employers will most likely have a workers’ comp policy that will step in and handle accidents like this. Those same policies prevent employees from filing claims against their employer (in most cases), but won’t apply whenever an accident has been caused by a third party. Victims of these accidents are free to pursue negligence claims against them if they’re injuries were caused by their actions. What’s more, the victims’ workers’ comp benefits won’t be affected by that claim, as their injuries still happened while they were on the job.
