Boise, Idaho — A gas plant worker was injured in an industrial accident on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
Local news reports say that one of Norco Inc.’s employees suffered second-degree burns after a small fire ignited at the company’s gas plant.
The accident happened sometime after noon on Gowen Road in South Boise. Emergency officials were alerted at about 1 p.m. about the incident.
Apparently, when the man was carrying two containers — that he may have thought were empty — out to a dock, flames shot out of the cylinders and burned the employee’s arm and shoulder. The fire was put out almost immediately, the report said.
The employee was flown to a hospital in Salt Lake City for treatment.
Investigators believe that the fire might have ignited because containers may have had residual acetylene gas that possibly was leaking.
