Holland, Michigan Crash Injures Antonio and Alondra Chavez, Monique Keels and David Plowman


Holland, Michigan — Four people were hospitalized after being injured in an accident on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.

According to a news report, Antonio Chavez was rear-ended by Monique Keels as he traveled east on Chicago Drive. This collision pushed Chavez into the path of a dump truck, pinning him inside his vehicle.

The accident happened at about 7 a.m. near 112th Avenue.

Chavez, 57, and his 17-year-old passenger, Alondra Chavez, had to be extricated and taken to a local hospital. Keels, 37, was also taken to the hospital along with the dump truck driver, David Plowman, 38.

It was reported that Keels’ and Plowman’s injuries were not life-threatening.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Visibility may have been affected by the sun, the report said.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
