Motorcycle Crash Seriously Injures Passenger on Arrowpoint Dr. in Houston, TX

Houston, TX — A man riding on a motorcycle as a passenger was badly injured in the Houston area after he was thrown from the bike in an accident. This happened late Friday night, July 3, 2015 along a residential street.

So far, the police don’t know much about what happened, but said that it took place along Arrowpoint Drive near Spell Street that night at about 10:30 p.m.

According to their reports, two men were riding on a motorcycle along Arrowpoint when something happened and the man riding as passenger suddenly fell off. He sustained a serious head injury and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

At the last update, it appeared that he was in serious condition.

Edit: One news report written about this accident said the passenger fell off right as the rider accelerated. It may be that the rider gunned the engine and the man wasn’t holding on tightly enough. This needs to be investigated some more.

So far, there has been no mention of alcohol or impairment being a factor here.

Commentary:

There’s something to be said about being an adult and knowing the risks & hazards of your decisions, but there’s decidedly more to be said about the duty of safety this motorcyclist would have owed his passenger. Things like speeding, reckless driving, and or driving under the influence are all things that will turn a simple trip down the road into a major accident. I don’t pretend to know a lot about what happened here, but I don’t think it would be wise to make assumptions until more information is released.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
