San Antonio, TX — A 69-year old man in San Antonio was badly injured and taken to the hospital in critical condition after a major accident this past Friday morning, July 3, 2015. Police are saying that a pickup truck and a car got into an accident on Basse Road near the train tracks at U.S. 281.
After the accident, the car was pushed into the path of an oncoming traffic.
This happened at about 6:15 a.m. that Friday morning, just east of the highway. A 69-year old man was driving west along Basse Road when he was hit by a red pickup truck that was driving eastbound.
The accident pushed the man’s smaller car across the train tracks, where it was hit by a passing train. The man in the car was rushed to a hospital with very severe injuries while two men in the red pickup were treated for non-serious injuries.
Nobody was injured on the train.
Right now, police aren’t sure what caused this accident or which driver was at fault, but they have ruled out alcohol and impairment as a factor.
