Harvey Cedars, NJ — A woman was hospitalized after being hit by an SUV while riding her bicycle in Harvey Cedars, New Jersey, on Monday, June 29, 2015. The accident took place at the intersection of Long Beach Blvd. and West Burlington Avenue.
The woman driving the SUV was identified as 42-year-old Jennifer Budzyn. She was turning onto Long Beach from West Burlington when she hit 41-year-old Beth Deturo.
Deturo sustained possible head trauma and was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus. There’s been no update on her current condition.
Emergency workers also took Budzyn to Southern Ocean Medical Center for trouble breathing.
The accident is currently being investigated.

Unfortunately, this sounds like an accident that happened because of a driver who just wasn’t paying enough attention to the road. I’ve seen it a million times before. Someone is making a right-hand turn, looking left to make sure there’s no oncoming traffic. All the while not seeing the pedestrian who’s crossing the road on their right. There’s no crazy fix to problems like this. People just need to do a better looking all around them while they’re stopped at the intersection.
