Mechanicsville, VA — Three people were hospitalized following an accident between a dump truck and a pickup in Mechanicsville, Virginia, on Thursday, May 28, 2015.
Reports say that the pickup truck was getting onto the interstate from the Pole Green Road on-ramp when it was hit by a dump truck being driven by Oswald Morris, who had suddenly swerved off the side of the road.
There were three passengers inside Morris’ vehicle. All were injured and taken to MCV for treatment. Morris himself was trapped inside the vehicle and emergency workers needed 20 minutes before they were able to extricate him.
Police have charged him with reckless driving. It’s not clear if anyone inside the pickup was hurt.
The accident is still being investigated.

Commentary
Much of how this accident is handled is really going to depend on who the passengers inside the dump truck were. If they were employee’s of the trucking company, then this will likely be handled through workers’ comp. However, if they were just passengers, they may all have separate claims against the company. The same goes for anyone inside the pickup, as well.
