Babylon, NY — There was a serious accident late last month (Saturday, April 25, 2015) that left one young man with serious injuries, another young man with minor injuries, and two people facing drunk driving charges. The victims who were injured were identified as Xavier Gonzalez, 21, and Joseph Adams, 22.
Those charged with DUI were identified as Leslie Rizos, 49, and Miguel Almonte, 22.
So far, it appears that Joseph Adams and Xavier Gonzalez were both passengers in Almonte’s car when this accident happened. Almonte had been driving along Livingston Avenue in Babylon around 3:00 a.m. that morning when he crashed into Leslie Rizos’ car near the intersection with Park Avenue.
Rizos had been driving west on Park that morning when she crashed into the side of Almonte’s car, which had been driving south on Livingston. Police said Almonte rolled through his stop sign.
The wreck left Xavier Gonzalez with major injuries while Adams and the others were only slightly injured. Later, though, police said that Almonte and Rizos were suspected of being under the influence and have since arrested them.
