Commentary:

The fact that the offending driver in the accident was under the age of 21, and the fact that they were allegedly under the influence of alcohol is something that needs to be looked into extensively. Why? Because there is a chance that a bar or licensed alcohol business or establishment broke the law just as the driver did when they put their keys in the ignition. How so? By breaking the laws that govern the responsible and safe sale of alcohol. Contrary to popular belief, bars are not zones of wanton debauchery and drinking. They are a place that is regulated so people can partake in a potentially harmful activity like drinking in a safe and controlled environment. If the bar served an underage person over the legal intoxication limit, then it is a perfect example of behavior that should never go unpunished. These alcohol service regulations are put on the books not to choke bars and restaurants of precious revenue, they are on the books to safeguard our roadways from the dangers of drunk drivers.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
