Two Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on Danielson Pike in Foster, RI

Foster, RI — Two people were sent to the hospital following a multi-vehicle accident which included an 18-wheeler in Foster, Rhode Island, on Friday, May 1, 2015. The accident took place on Danielson Pike, near the intersection of Rams Tail Road, around 8:00 in the morning.

According to local reports, a truck hauling propane lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic, where it sideswiped an oncoming 18-wheeler. The truck then crashed into an SUV before rolling over onto its side.

The driver of the SUV suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. The driver of the truck responsible for the accident was taken to Providence VA Medical Center. There’s been no word on the extent of his injuries.

In an accident like this, there are a couple of things to consider. The first is the driver who was hurt by the propane truck. Obviously, something like this would be handled like any other traffic accident. The injured driver would have a claim against the driver who was responsible. The second thing to look at would be the root cause of the accident. Many of these accidents happen because a driver isn’t paying enough attention to the road, something takes them by surprise and they lose control of their vehicle. However, not all accidents happen because of that. If something were wrong with the driver’s truck — say, the brakes had gone out — and that had caused the accident, then the driver would have a potential claim against a manufacturer, and so would anyone else injured in the crash.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
