Commentary:
The news said that the bus is owned by the city, but operated by a company called Academy Bus Lines, which is probably going to lead to a great deal of confusing finger-pointing in the investigation of who is at fault. If the bus is found to have caused the accident, then you can bet that the city people are going to point to the private company and vice versa. Considering claims against government vehicles are complex enough, the inclusion of a potential third party operator only adds confusion to the mix. Victims may need somebody who has seen this kind of muddled confusion first hand, and can navigate the complexities after years of practice. Again, it all depends on who was at fault, which isn’t even hinted at in the news, so if anybody knows anything more, I’d be happy to listen.
