Tuscon, AZ — Police have identified Daylin Enos as the 6-year-old boy who was killed in an accident with a UPS truck in Tucson, Arizona, on Friday, April 3, 2015.
The accident happened at an apartment complex on South Campbell Avenue. According to reports, the driver of the UPS truck was making deliveries and backing up into a parking space.
Reports say that the driver of the truck checked his mirror as well as a rear-end camera, and honked his horn before putting the truck in reverse. Enos, who was riding a bike at the time, apparently didn’t hear this and rode behind the truck as it began backing up. Police say that he wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time.
Emergency workers pronounced the boy dead at the scene. The accident is currently being investigated.

There has to be a deeper investigation here. The driver of a truck like this knows that if he were ever found at fault for an accident like this, the liability is going to be huge, so I’m not surprised at how complete a picture he painted for authorities as to all the steps he took before putting his truck in reverse. Look, I wasn’t at the scene of the crash, so I don’t know exactly what happened. And I’m not trying to say that the driver of that UPS truck is lying about things. However, I think that, given the circumstances, the driver has a vested interest in his version of events being the only version of events, and that further investigation is needed to make absolutely sure that that’s what happened. A 6-year-old boy was killed here. I think that that’s the very least that could be done for him.
