Gordonville, TX — A small plane crashed near the Oklahoma-Texas border this past Friday (March 29, 2015), leaving four people injured. Police with the Texas DPS didn’t release a lot of information, but said that a pilot and three passengers were injured after their small white plane crashed into a house in Gordonville.

The small Beechcraft B35 airplane was apparently flying near the Gordonviille area at about 4:00 p.m. this past Sunday afternoon when something went wrong and the pilot, Robert Gentry, lost control. The plane then crashed into a local home, going through the roof and leaking fuel everywhere.

A small fire started and the homeowners quickly helped the passengers and pilot out of the plane. All four were taken to a hospital, but their conditions weren’t released. The news also said that the small plane had just taken off from Cedar Mills Airport.

Update: The passengers in the plane crash have been identified as Karen Christian, 51, Annie Gentry, 17, and Collin Howell, 14. The pilot, Robert Gentry, was also injured.

Commentary:

I won’t claim to know a lot more information than what the news has already released, but one thing I would be concerned about here is a defect or a malfunction on the plane itself. I realize that a lot of things can cause a plane to crash, but if there was something wrong with the craft itself, then the owner of the plant (or the manufacturer) might incur liability.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
