The frequency at which I see these accidents is a little disturbing to be completely honest with you. If a pedestrian is hit while they’re in the middle of a crosswalk, that tells me that the driver just wasn’t paying attention to the road. If that turns out to be the case, then it doesn’t matter whether or not the police bring any charges against them. A civil case would still allow for the driver to be held responsible. And if they weren’t paying attention to the road, they need to be held responsible. Yes, the girl involved in this crash is incredibly fortunate, because this accident could have been much worse than it was. However, not everyone involved in these accidents is so fortunate. And holding a driver for this sort of thing sends a message that this sort of behavior won’t be tolerated. I’d be really interested to learn a little more about what happened here, just to get a sense of the timing of it all. I would imagine that, being so close to a school, a car dealership, and some pretty busy roads, there was a surveillance camera nearby. Any footage of this accident needs to be checked.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
