Benton, AR — There was an accident reported this past week that involved a small child and some chemicals. People told police that a 17-month old child was playing at the Tyndall Park earlier this week in Benton (near Border St. & Hoover St.) when the child came across some chemicals in a bottle.
The child picked up the bottle and some of the chemical (a red liquid) accidentally splashed onto the child’s skin and caused it to burn/blister.
The child was taken to a hospital, the news said, and was treated for the burn — later determined to be an acid burn. The police said they’d scour the park and look for any other traces of the chemical, but currently don’t know where it came from.
They didn’t mention anything about it belonging to a maintenance or cleanup crew, but they are trying to find out how the acid came to be at the Tyndall Park.
