Commentary
Look, I’m not going to act like some doomsday prophet and say that the truck driver involved in this accident should be stripped of his license and never be allowed behind the wheel of a truck again. But he made a very irresponsible decision here — something he should have known was wrong — that put a man’s life in danger, and he needs to be held accountable for it. He was injured, and that’s something the trucking company needs to make right. All to often you see it’s the case and a semi-truck will cause an accident, and the trucking company will do everything it can to push liability off onto some other party, very often the victims themselves. That shouldn’t happen. Commercial truck drivers are held to a high standard because they’re capable of causing so much damage with just a single mistake. And when mistakes happen, especially ones like this, they need to be held accountable for them.
