Forsyth County, NC — Two people were injured in an accident between a tractor-trailer and an oil tanker in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Monday, February 23, 2015. The accident took place on Wallburg Road, near the intersection with Union Cross Road.
Authorities have identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 24-year old Jordan Griffin. Sources say that Griffin is a new driver for Pepsi and was still being trained on the day of the accident. As Griffin was traveling along Wallburg Road, he drove off the side of the street. He over-corrected and crashed into the side of an oil tanker, which then overturned.
The driver of the oil tanker was not hurt. However, Griffin suffered severe injuries and was taken to the Intensive Care Unit at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Griffin’s trainer was also injured in the accident, although the extent of those injuries hasn’t been elaborated on.
The crash is still being investigated. No charges have yet been filed.
