Commentary:

Considering the time of the accident, and the fact that the police officer that was hurt was tending to a previous accident scene, I really wonder if alcohol was a factor in the accident. Why? Well for some reason, intoxicated drivers are drawn to flashing lights like moths to a flame, and when there are accident victims and law enforcement officers standing nearby, things can turn tragic very quickly. If the driver of the offending vehicle happened to be intoxicated, then there is a very good possibility that they were weaving their way home from their favorite watering hole in the hours before the accident. If true, then the bar they visited can be punished, as can the offending driver at the same time.

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it until I’m blue in the face: If bars are scared to unleash drunk drivers on the streets for fear of legal retribution, then they may stop unleashing so many drunk drivers onto our streets.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
