Lonoke, AR — There was a serious accident this past weekend outside of Lonoke along I-40 that left three people dead, including a child. The Arkansas State Police haven’t released much detail about the accident, but identified two of the victims as Glenna Wright and Audrey Wright.
The news said that Glenna and Audrey were both killed at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night (February 14, 2015) along with a child in their Mercury Mystique after they were rear-ended by an SUV.
This happened just west of Lonoke, near mile marker 170. According to the news and the ASP reports, Glenna Wright was driving her Mercury Mystique east along I-40 that night when they were suddenly rear-ended by a Mercury Mountaineer SUV.
The accident caused the Wright’s car to swerved off I-40 and crash into a nearby tree, killing Glenna Wright, Audrey Wright, and a small child in their car.
The driver of the Mercury Mountaineer wasn’t harmed and remained at the scene until police came. They’re not sure why the accident happened yet, but they are prepared to investigate some more. So far, no other names have been released and it’s not clear if charges will be filed.

Commentary:
Do any of my readers have more information about this accident? Why did the Mercury SUV hit the sedan on the interstate that night? Given the late hour, is it possible that the driver was impaired or even fatigued? The news reports so far on this have been really sparse, which is always frustrating to some degree. A big part of finding out exactly what happened in car accidents is so that preventative measures can be taken so it doesn’t happen again. Sometimes, that’s a traffic ticket and sometimes that’s full-blown legal action to right some wrongs.
