Birmingham, AL — Police identified 25-year old Bobby Bernier as the man they believe was drunk on the morning of Wednesday, February 4, 2015, when he crashed into three vehicles and sent four people to the hospital.
Reports say that Bernier was driving recklessly through a school zone, ignoring a police officer who was in the area directing school traffic who tried to stop him. Bernier crashed into three other vehicles, on of them head-on.
In all, four people were injured in the accident. A passenger inside Bernier’s vehicle was critically injured and taken to UAB Hospital. The driver of one of the vehicle that was hit sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
Two children were also hospitalized as a precaution. There’s been no update on anyone’s current condition.
Bernier himself was taken to Shelby Baptist Medical Center. Police have brought a whole host of charges against him, including leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment, and assault in the first and third degree.
