Commentary:
The news reports I’ve seen about this accident mention two things that are connected, and need to be talked about. On one side of the coin, we have a driver making a turn onto the road, and the other side, we have speed as a potential factor. How are these connected? Well, determining the speed of a vehicle when it is driving at you is nearly impossible. I know seasoned traffic officers that can’t do it, let alone your average driver. My point being, if this driver was turning onto a road, and assumed that everybody they were going to turn in front of was going the speed limit, a speeding car would have thrown off all the timing and spacing of the turn. If the driver of the other vehicle was in-fact speeding, then I can’t envision too many scenarios where they wouldn’t be responsible for the accident.
