MARLBOROUGH, MA — Two people were seriously hurt after a three vehicle accident with a tractor-trailer in Marlborough, Massachusetts on Thursday, January 29th, 2015. The news said that the accident happened just before 10:00 Thursday morning.
Two people were taken to the hospital after a tractor-trailer, a Subaru Forester, and a Chevy Silverado collided while driving on Interstate 290. Officials said that the Subaru struck the tractor-trailer from the rear, before the pickup truck struck the Forester in a chain-reaction.
Two people were flown to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.
Massachusetts State Police are investigating the accident at this time.

With chain reaction accidents, especially those that involve a series of rear-end collisions, the problem usually lies with vehicles following each-other too closely. Drivers have an obligation to keep a safe distance between their car, and the car in front of them, just in case something stops the lead vehicle suddenly. Drivers need to tailor their following distances to avoid accidents like this, if the newspaper is accurate in it’s depiction.
