Sylmar, CA — Officers with the Sylmar PD reported that a woman, 58-year old Blanca Lopez, died on Sunday afternoon (December 28, 2015) after a car accident. They said that they suspected this accident was influenced by alcohol, but haven’t confirmed that yet.
Lopez was driving a car along Foothill Boulevard at about 6:45 p.m. that Sunday evening when she came to the light at Polk Street, just off I-210. Allegedly, Lopez sped through a red light and crashed into another vehicle.
The impact killed Lopez immediately and resulted in minor injuries for the people in the second car. The news reports said that the second driver was arrested for DUI and police apparently suspect Lopez of being under the influence as well.
There was supposed to be more investigation about this matter, but no details or updates were ever released.
