Louisville, KY — Reports from a few weeks ago confirmed that a young woman was killed in Louisville along Dixie Highway after a suspected drunk driving car accident. The accident happened on January 18, 2015, and the victim was identified as Shelley Hurt, 26 years old.
Police said that the accident happened early that Sunday morning, at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Greenwood Road. Ms. Hurt was riding in a Ford Crown Victoria that was headed along Dixie Highway when the driver suddenly tried to make a left turn onto Greenwood.
A black Pontiac headed in the opposite direction didn’t have enough time to brake and crashed into the side of the silver car, causing a major accident scene.
Shelley Hurt, who was wearing her seat belt, was critically injured by the impact and died. The driver of the Ford was taken to a hospital with injuries along with three others in the Pontiac — two men and a woman.
Right now, it’s not clear what caused the accident, but police think that alcohol was a factor. No charges have been filed yet.
