Commentary
Truck drivers are trained for just this sort of situation. Their trucks are outfitted with plenty of mirrors that are going to let the driver see if there’s any oncoming traffic that he needs to yield to before making a turn like this. Beyond that, the other vehicle involved here was a Buick. It wasn’t a motorcycle. The driver of the truck doesn’t have any excuse for not being able to see that. If there was any chance that an oncoming vehicle could have been coming his way, the driver should have been more careful, stopped, and looked. It may have avoided this accident. Look, I wasn’t at the scene. I didn’t see this happen, so it’s possible there’s something I’ve missed here. But right now it seems that the truck driver has got some questions he needs to answer.
