Car Accident on I-285 in Atlanta, GA Seriously Injures Two

Atlanta, GA — Last Monday morning, there was a major accident on I-285 in Cumberland area of Atlanta that left two people injured, one seriously and one critically so. This accident happened along I-287 westbound, just before the exit for northbound I-75, the news reports said.
On Monday morning, during the normal commute, a car headed west on I-285 suddenly tried to change lanes in traffic, but clipped a pickup truck in the process. That pickup truck then lost control and swerved, causing it to flip over multiple times.
A passenger in the truck was apparently ejected during the crash and was critically injured while the driver of the pickup truck was seriously injured. Both were taken to a local hospital.
The driver of the car that swerved into the truck wasn’t identified. A third person here was listed as having minor injuries, but it wasn’t clear to which vehicle they belonged. Police didn’t mention anything about charges being filed.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
