Newington, CT — There was an accident reported last Friday morning (January 16, 2015) in the Newington area that left a roofer critically injured. Authorities confirmed later on Friday that a roofer at a construction site was badly injured when he was shocked by some electrical wires.
The approximate time of the accident was listed at 10:20 A.M., they said. The roofer was working at a site along Willard Avenue and was using his ladder to reach something when the ladder apparently touched some wires.
The worker was shocked, which knocked him off the ladder to the ground about 20 feet below. He was immediately taken to a hospital, then transferred to another hospital that would focus on his burns. As of that evening, he was in critical condition.
This is still being investigated by OSHA, as far as I can tell, as well as other local officials.
