Kokomo, IN — A suspected drunk driver, 38-year old Rena Shenk, has been charged for a car accident last Tuesday (December 30, 2015) that left two teens injured after she crashed her vehicle into a house. The injured teens were identified as 16-year old Philip Achenbach and 18-year old Ben Martin.
The accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon and Shenk was driving a Chevroley Equinox, police said. In her car, riding as passengers, were Achenbach and Martin.
As Shenk drove her car along resident street Council Ring Boulevard, she lost control and drove off the road, going through a yard, hitting a tree and mailbox, then crashing into the front of a white house.
The accident critically injured her passengers, Martin and Achenbach, and they were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Rena Shenk was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and has since been arrested. Five people were in the house at the time of the accident, but none were seriously injured.
