Children Allegedly Burned by Excess Chlorine in Monroeville, PA Hampton Inn Pool

Monroeville, PA — A swimming pool at a hotel may have had too much chlorine in it after some children at a party suffered chemical burns. Authorities said that a birthday party was recently held at the Hampton Inn of the interstate in Monroeville, using their swimming pool as part of it.

Several of the children in the water later allegedly developed red rashes on their skin and suffered from reddened eyes. After they were taken to various hospitals by their respective parents and relatives, some of the doctors concluded that the rashes were the result of 1st-degree chemical burns, according to the news reports.

Right now, Hampton Inn is declaring that their pools are tested regularly, both by employees and by a third party, and that the result is always a pH level of about 2 — which is in the safe range of 1-5 that the county health department demands.

However, one news report said that a county health inspector actually came to the Hampton Inn and tested the pool’s chorine levels, finding them to be at a 10. As of now, Hampton Inn is insisting that their pools do not have abnormally high chlorine levels.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
