Houston area skydiver is badly injured

On June 28, 2008 a skydiver in Houston, TX was badly injured when, according to witnesses, his primary parachute failed to open. The skydiver was taking place in a skydiving festival of sorts known as the "Dead Man's Boogie" which is described as an event to honor the memory of those who have died while skydiving.

At approximately 700 feet the skydiver's reserve parachute opened which slowed his fall. In spite of this he hit the ground with enough force to break numerous bones amongst other injuries.
