Commentary
I’ve seen a lot of accidents like this, and I have to wonder if this one was caused because the 18-wheeler involved tried to make it into the parking lot before letting the pickup truck pass. Discovering whether or not that was the case is going to take a thorough investigation of the crime scene. As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the trucking company involved here conducting their own investigation. It’s unfortunate, but I’ve seen trucking companies use their own investigation and the evidence they’ve uncovered to deny people’s insurance claims in the past. In these cases, private investigations are always going to be the smart choice. Yes, the police investigate the accident scene, but they’re more concerned with figuring out what happened, and if any laws were broken. A private investigation is going to look at why an accident happened, and that’s going to give those involved a much better picture of who’s responsible.
