HINESVILLE, GA — Janice Jones was seriously hurt in a car accident that happened in Hinesville, Georgia on Saturday, December 20th, 2014. The article from WTOC indicated that the accident happened at or about 11:00 Saturday afternoon.

59-year-old Janice Jones was hurt when the car she was a passenger in and another vehicle collided while driving on Highway 84. Police suspect that a tractor-trailer tire came loose on the roadway. When a Chevy Malibu tried to avoid the tire, it swerved into another lane where it struck another vehicle head-on.

Georgia State Police are still looking into what happened.

Commentary:

With this particular accident, I’m most interested in finding out how a tractor-trailer tire dislodged from a truck while it was in-motion. These truck drivers are supposed to be checking their load, and the road-worthiness of their truck periodically throughout their trips, in addition to a pre-trip check. I want to know how a tire loose enough to fly off was missed in these checks, if they were performed at all. If this truck driver failed to notice a tire loose enough to spin off during use, then the trucking company really needs to be held accountable for their role in the accident.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
