Channahon, IL — Emergency responders had to transport the driver of a semi-truck to the hospital following a rollover accident on Wednesday, December 17, 2014.
The accident took place on Interstate 55 in Channahon, Illinois. Reports say a tractor-trailer rolled over, injuring its driver. Emergency responders transported the man to Good Samaritan Hospital. His name was not released.
No other injuries were reported in conjunction with the accident.
The reason for the rollover has not been released. Police are continuing to investigate.

Unfortunately, tractor-trailers aren’t the impervious tanks many people make them out to be. In the past, they’ve been plagued by a host of safety issues. One of those is tipping over if the load they’re hauling is every improperly secured and shifts while the vehicle is out on the road. Typically, an accident like that would be handled through an employer’s workers’ comp policy. That is, unless, the loading was handled by a third party. Third parties (who are often contracted to handle things like this) aren’t covered under the employer/employee workers’ comp agreement. What was it that caused this accident to happen? Hopefully the investigation will be able to provide some answers in the coming days.
