San Antonio, TX — A passenger in a Ford Explorer died in a single-vehicle accident south of San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday, December 14, 2014. The accident took place on Interstate 37, around 8:00 at night.
The victim has been identified as Audrey Norcross. Norcross was 76 years old. She was riding along with a teenage who lost control of the vehicle and drove off-road. He hit the median before the Explorer rolled several times.
Norcross died in the accident. The driver suffered minor injuries. His name was not released.
Police say they don’t expect to bring any charges in the accident.
No other injuries were reported.

The cause of this accident has not yet been reported. I can say that in similar accidents, the way it works is that the driver is responsible for his passengers. A lot of people I talk to in my profession have a lot of misconceptions on how that works. Some believe that passengers don’t have any coverage, or are maybe covered by their own insurance. The truth is, they’re covered by the driver’s insurance, which in effect makes the driver responsible for them. If a passenger is injured or killed as a direct result of actions the driver was engaged in, then the driver can be held responsible for that.
