Winnebago, IL — The driver of semi-truck died in an accident with a train in Winnebago, Illinois, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. The accident happened in the 2700 block of Alworth Road, around 9:15 in the morning.
Michael Burtch was the driver of a semi that crashed into a train traveling east. Local law enforcement officials initiated an investigation following the crash and the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office announced that Burtch had a long history of heart disease. Because of this fact, they were not able to say with any degree of certainty that the crash had not been caused by a heart attack.
Burtch was 61 years old. No other injuries were reported in the accident.
