Corpus Christi, TX — There was a fatal car accident last night (Tuesday, November 25, 2014) that claimed the life of a Corpus Christi man on Highway 44, just west of the city. The accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. and the victim was identified as Nelson Hidalgo, 31 years old.
Police said that Hidalgo was driving a blue Honda car along McKinzie Road that evening when he reached the intersection with Highway 44. As he tried to pull across the highway, he apparently drove into the path of a westbound black Chevy pickup truck, which crashed into the driver’s side of his car.
The impact killed Hidalgo and slightly injured the truck driver, though he didn’t require treatment at a hospital or ambulance transportation.
Right now, it’s not clear which driver was at fault or if any charges will be filed, but the Corpus Christi police and Texas DPS troopers are investigating some more.
