Coffeyville, KS — A woman from Coffeyville was killed and a young child was injured after their car was in an accident with an 18-wheeler truck this past Friday. It happened just north of Coffeyville and police identified the woman who died as Rachel Baker, 29, and the child who was injured as Kylan Baker, 3.
They didn’t specify the relationship between Rachel and Kylan Baker. The accident happened last Friday morning around 11:30 a.m., November 21, 2014. Baker was driving her car along County Road 2800 (which is north of Coffeyville) when she came to the intersection with U.S. 169.
Her car entered into the intersection and was hit by a passing semi-truck, which pushed both vehicles off the highway. Police said that Rachel Baker passed away immediately while Kylan was taken to a hospital. His injuries weren’t specified.
The truck driver wasn’t harmed and police are currently looking into why the accident occurred and who was responsible.
